STARTING THE
GAME
-----------------
To start Chopper Attack simply double
click on the Chopper Attack icon. or type
"ChopperAttack" at the CLI prompt. After
loading, the AMOS Professional logo will be
displayed, pause for a moment then fade,
followed by a little more loading and
finally the Chopper Attack title screen
(What a lovely shade of pink!).
Chopper Attack uses the full PAL Amiga
screen, however if it is run on an NTSC
machine, then the screen and graphics are
repositioned and reduced to remain visible.
PLAYING THE
GAME
----------------
Chopper Attack is a game for two players.
The object is to shoot down the enemy
chopper 10 times. This is achieved through
judicious use of a machine gun mounted on
the front of your craft.
To pilot your craft you only need to
remember one rule : The chopper will always
accelerate towards it's rotor blades.
The game begins with a Yellow chopper to
the left of the screen and a Blue chopper on
the right. Player 1 controls the Yellow,
Player 2 the Blue.
Pushing upward on the joystick opens the
throttle which causes the chopper to
accelerate. If the joystick is not up then
the throttle will gradually close causing
the helicopter to lose acceleration.
Pulling left and right alters helicopters
angle of acceleration.
Pressing fire fires (of course!) the
machine gun. To score a hit, the black
target that appears when you press fire must
be in contact with the enemy chopper.
When flying backwards (ie. tail pointing
towards the ground and you have some
velocity) pulling downwards on the joystick
will flip your chopper.
If the enemy chopper scores a hit on your
craft or you collide with either the pile of
brown rocks in the center of the screen, or
the wooden buildings at either edge of the
screen, your chopper will damage it's
shield. The shield level is the green bar
at the top of the screen. When all the
green lights go out your chopper will
explode.
If you land on either heli-pad your
shields will slowly re-generate. However,
for every 4 points of shield you
re-generate, you will lose 1 point from your
score.
Every time your chopper is destroyed your
enemy earns a point. When either you or the
enemy scores 10 points the game ends and the
winning scoreboard flashes.
The best way to learn how to play the game
is to have a go.
One final word of warning : When your
chopper is on the pad it must always remain
level. The chopper cannot land if it is not
parallel to the ground and once on the
ground pulling left or right will destroy
it.

REGISTERING, COMMENTS
AND QUESTIONS
-----------------------------------
Chopper Attack is written in AMOS
Professional V2.01 and is fully multi-
tasking even on an A500 with half a meg of
RAM (Has anyone actually got less than 1 meg
anymore?).
The registration fee is $10 Australian
(about $10 US or 5 pounds sterling). You
could even send more if you feel like it!
Registered users will recieve a copy of
the source code (fully commented!) and the
latest version of Chopper Attack.
This program was written over a period of
several weeks. All code, graphics and sound
effects are entirely my own work, and as it
is my work I am constantly seeking ways to
improve the quality of it.
If you have any comments, questions or bug
reports (I really don't think there are any
bugs : Famous last words) then feel free to
contact me.
